About Us
Balgowlah Community Garden was formed in 2011 as a joint initiative between Manly Council and Cancer Council NSW. The original aims were to promote healthy exercise, community engagement and the consumption of fruit and vegetables.
We have recently become an independent, member-run incorporation with activities of the garden being overseen by a volunteer Management Committee. However, our governing principles have not changed and we are still committed to providing a space for personal and vegetable growth.

In the time since the Garden's launch this vacant residential plot has been transformed into a vibrant community space committed to the practice and education of organic gardening. There is a combination of leased plots and communal beds to allow for individual experimentation as well as shared gardening to grow communal produce.
Regular member activities such as the care of our chooks, monthly working bees and fundraisers keep our community growing strong. We welcome members from all walks of life, and with any level of gardening experience.
